The Joy Club Garden Wins Silver

The world’s largest flower show, RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, is back bringing colour, inspiration and good times in a magnificent setting.

This year Robinson Arnold was invited to build the ‘Joy Club Garden’ which was designed by Zavier Kwek. Tom Robinson and Joshua Arnold, the Founders and Directors of Robinson Arnold were absolutely delighted when Zavier Kwek approached them to commission his amazing design.

Joshua Arnold said, “We feel absolutely honoured to have been asked by Zavier Kwek to build his design for this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. At the end of the day, this is an amazing opportunity to be involved with, it is such a prestigious and well-supported festival and for Robinson Arnold to play a part is an honour”.

But the delight of being asked to commission the design was just the start of the amazing adventure, as the Royal Horticultural Society judges awarded the ‘Joy Club Garden’ a Silver Medal Award for its design and build.

Tom Robinson commented “We are very pleased to have won a silver medal award at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. This is a huge testament to all our team at Robinson Arnold for their hard work and dedication, we couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved together, and we thank Zavier Kwek for believing in our abilities to commission and build his design. We would like to thank our team Stuart Collinson, Ashley Lewis, William Church, Annika Arnold and Margret Broster for all the support”.

Tom continued saying “It will no doubt take a little time to fully sink in what we have achieved, but we hope we are back to support the show again in 2023”.

More about the ‘Joy Club Garden’

The Joy Club Garden aims to raise awareness of the issues surrounding isolation and loneliness in later life. With a geometric design and materials chosen to give a nod to the setting of the Festival, the garden begins with an area separated from the rest by steel screens, representing social isolation. An evergreen pine tree signifies wisdom and longevity. From here, the planting scheme gradually becomes more colourful, encouraging exploration. A short path leads to a bridge across a pond – a journey that represents reflection and highlights the challenges of reconnecting with others.

Across the bridge is a sociable and inclusive setting consisting of a table surrounded by uplifting mixed planting. A smaller pine tree, which has yet to reach maturity, represents the benefits to society as a whole that can come from nurturing multi-generational relationships. The garden illustrates the importance of social connection, community and friendship in later life.

The Royal Horticultural Society is the UK’s leading gardening charity. They aim to enrich everyone’s life through plants and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place.

About Robinson Arnold
An overview of the company

Robinson Arnold Limited was founded by two friends Tom Robinson and Joshua Arnold in early 2021. Both Tom and Joshua have been running their own successful landscaping and gardening businesses for many years. Tom and Joshua found themselves working in partnership together on many projects. Their vast and varied experience combined with the expertise of their own teams meant they were capable and often selected as the delivery partner of choice to deliver large contracts and projects throughout East Anglia and beyond.

It was finally agreed that the two separate companies would be better combined as one entity and all resources collated under one roof, so in early 2021 Robinson Arnold Limited was founded by the acquisition of Tom Robinson Landscaping and Greenscene Landscape Solutions.

Today, Robinson Arnold is working in both the domestic and commercial sectors and our team pride itself on offering a high-quality service, with a keen eye for detail.
